The New Beginning

This July I retired from the military. My last months felt like a mad dash to the end. Retiring while overseas during COVID made it extra interesting. A lot of uncertainty added to my stress. Yet, fate enabled us to stay in Kuwait and continue, now as a civilian. The dust settled and I officially started my next chapter. As I shed my military skin during the "transition phase." I ask myself, what do I want to leave behind?

Happy 12th Anniversary to us! Twelve years ago, we said “I do.” We have gone through so much and I truly love Mitch more than I did on our wedding day. I am grateful for my COVID quarantine buddy…Our chill night gives me a chance to reflect on how important it is to choose the right partner.

Out of Comfort Zone Connections, Part III - Reaching Out

Though it is easiest to stick to your own unit and not branch out to meet people in other sections; I learned from this deployment how fulfilling it is to truly get to know others. We happened to be building up a bare base and the environment helped us bond as a team and military family. Though we often have our familiar tribe, a group of people like us, safe and comfortable; I recommend expanding beyond and making connections with those who are not  in your unit. It broadens your perspective and is simply fun.
